About the Practice
I help people who want their immigration case done right.
I started my legal career at the Public Defender’s Office, working with people facing serious criminal charges. After moving into private practice, I began to see how often criminal cases led to immigration problems. Many people did not realize that something happening in criminal court could put their ability to stay in the United States at risk. That experience is what led me into immigration law.
Over time, I learned that immigration law is one of the most confusing areas of the legal system. It is always changing, and there is a lot of bad information out there. Many people believe immigration is just paperwork or a rigid system where the outcome is automatic. In reality, immigration law is more complicated than that. The questions immigration asks matter, and how a person’s situation fits into the law matters.
I start every case by focusing on the person. The system and the process are important, but they come second. Too often, people do not really understand their own case. I take the time to explain what is good about a case, what may be a problem, and what to expect next. I also spend time learning my clients’ stories, because telling the story clearly and honestly is often a key part of an immigration case—especially in deportation and citizenship matters.
I have practiced law for more than 30 years and have focused on immigration law for over 25 of those years. For many years now, I have practiced only immigration law so I can focus on people who truly need help in this area. I am licensed in Florida and California and admitted to practice in federal courts, including the Southern Districts of Florida and California and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. I graduated from Tulane University and California Western School of Law.
From the first conversation, I want clients to know that the case is about them, not about me. My job is to guide them through a system that can feel overwhelming, explain what is happening at each step, and help them move forward in the best way possible. The process can take time, and the path is not always straight, but my goal is to help clients reach a successful outcome with clarity, calm, and hope.
This work matters to me because I have always wanted to help people. Before becoming a lawyer, I worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, jobs that required patience, responsibility, and staying calm under pressure. I am also a certified personal trainer, which reminds me that real progress comes from preparation, consistency, and steady guidance over time.
